Abstract Noun Poetry
This is one of the examples I wrote and showed in my PowerPoint.
Abstract noun poems are one of my favourite forms of poetry to teach children. They are really easy for kids to compose and always produce some great pieces of writing. At a recent staff meeting, I thought everyone had heard of them but that wasn't the case. So if you're a teacher whose unfamiliar with abstract noun poetry, or know them but would like to improve how you teach them, watch my video below...
So that's it! I have had so many cracking pieces of writing from this and I'm sure you will too. Even often reluctant writers, freed from the stress of writing a cohesive story or report, turned in very individual and creative poems.
With the ideas in my video, you're good to go. However, if you'd like to save some time, download my resource pack. It has a beast of a 28 slide PowerPoint with grammar work on nouns for pupils to do on whiteboards, two abstract noun poems, a printable planning sheet and also planning for teachers.
All purchases help with the running costs of the site and will help me retire from teaching... at the age of 40!
